Jurriaan Wesselink
Eye of the Navel ('25)
My second solo exhibition featuring paintings, digital works, and performances, took the navel as its point of departure.
More information in my first interview here (in Dutch).

The navel is our first connection to the other, the meeting point of mother and fetus. It became a portal in my work: from other to self, outer to inner world, physical to spiritual. I spent hours looking at my navel, touching it, performing with it.

In the works you see how I constantly travel between the inside and outside world, between the invisible and unknown and the visible world that we know.

In some particular works the color yellow became important: Does it transport you to enlightenment and divinity and/or does it make you attentive?
