Jurriaan Wesselink
In Hyperreality ('24)
In Hyperreality is my first exhibition, taking place in Studio Slijper. The exhibition explored the blurred states between lived physical reality and simulated reality through fourteen life-size oil paintings and two collaborative performances.

Performance 1: Painter-Feet Dilemma
Econometrician and Mathematician Rach predicted my future painting sales, versus sales in foot picture sales. He created three different models: 1. Forecasting market sizes of feet picture market and painting market, 2. Forecasting market share of Jurriaan in both markets, 3. Modeling a decision.

Performance 2: Painter-Feet Dilemma
Silencio simulated a conversation about the exhibition In Hyperreality, applying four layers of reality, represented by four characters. The true artist went in conversation with a partly simulated curator, a fully simulated gallerist and an annoying audience voice.

I question what it means to be present through relating to my body and its parts: Big hands, big feet, my face. How can I feel present and be in conversation with the world?
